MARIE ANTOINETTE CHAIR FABRIC DESIGN 12TH SCALE

  • Approx height 10"
  • Approx length 23"

This is truly a stunning pattern from the 18th century and can be seen upholstered onto the rare chair designed for Marie Antoinette.

The pattern was extracted not from the chair but from a very old sample of textile which had been used during the upholstery of the chair, much warn and faded. The chair provided the vibrant colours for the design and so the pattern was redrawn and digitally crafted and coloured to produce this wonderful design.

The pattern size is the same as the chair pattern.

The chair model kit can be purchased HERE

You can also download a digital file if you wish to print this pattern yourself HERE

History

A few notes about the chairs history: The following information about the chair was extracted from  https://www.architecturaldigest.com/story/marie-antoinette-louis-xvi-gilt-wood-chair

Christie’s has announced an extremely rare lot up for auction on July 9 in London: a Louis XVI gilt-wood fauteuil en bergère that was designed for Marie Antoinette estimated at $459,000 to $766,000. The chair was made by François II Foliot, after a 1780 model by Jacques Gondoin, and features a sculpture by either Pierre-Edmé Babel or Toussaint Foliot. “It is a rare privilege to handle the sale of this exquisite and historic chair, which is an incredible piece of royal history,” says Amelia Walker of Christie’s London. “It was made for one of Marie Antoinette’s most personal retreats at Versailles, the Pavillon Belvédère in the jardin anglais at the Petit Trianon. This chair was part of the most expensive suite of seat furniture ever supplied to the queen, and is the only armchair to have survived.”According to Christie’s, Marie Antoinette requested seating “in the very latest taste,” and court designer Gondoin provided her with a wax model for the armchair, complete with upholstery samples. The model still exists and is on display at the Louvre. The suite is known to have cost 20,000 livres and was later sold post-French revolution

The Print

Individually printed to order onto high quality paper with high detail and colour definition. The image shown on this website does not reflect the quality of the printed item. The printed item will be of a much higher quality with no blur or undefined print. Colours will be crisp and clean.

The pattern repeats at the left and right edges.

Because of the length of the wallpaper I shall roll it to post it. All 4 edges are selvage which protects the edges of the design from any accidental scuffing. This selvage will need to be cut away.

Do you require taller paper?

If you require a taller paper the please do contact me. There is no maximum height. As a rule I charge £1 per inch (in height) and an additional £5 per set up per design.

The resolution (sharpness of detail) of the prints is of a very very high quality and although you maybe viewing a slightly pixilated image of the mural your print will be sharp, clear and beautiful. All murals are printed on thick high grade paper that has a matt finish and will not wrinkle when glued. The inks will not bleed if the paper is made wet.
